DIY pumpkin skincare

Did you know? Nearly a half of all pumpkins brought for Halloween end up in a landfill – that’s 18,000 tonnes of food. We wanted to do something about it, and help the planet this Halloween. We've put together some pumpkin beauty treatments that you can make at home!

Pumpkins are great for your skin as they are full of antioxidants, Zinc and Vitamins A and C. The flesh of this vegetable can help nourish, brighten and smooth skin as well as boost Collagen levels.

1.Face mask (All skin types)
  • One cup Pumpkin
  • Two tablespoons of Brown Sugar
  • One tablespoon of honey
  • half a cup of natural yoghurt.

Spread onto the face, relax for ten minutes before rinsing with warm water.

2. Lip Exfoliant
  • 1/4 teaspoon of mashed pumpkin
  • 1/4 teaspoon of coconut water
  • 1/2 teaspoon fine sugar

Rub on lips and massage to exfoliate to remove any dead skin from the lips.

3. Hair mask
  • one cup Pumpkin
  • a half cup of natural yoghurt
  • one tablespoon of honey

Massage it into your scalp, wrap your hair in a towel and leave the mixture to work into your hair for 30 minutes before washing hair, as usual, this will give your hair great shine!

4. Face Scrub
  • 1/2 cup mashed pumpkin
  • Three tablespoons of brown sugar
  • 1/2 tablespoon of blended pumpkin seeds.

Mix ingredients together to form a thick paste, apply it to your face in a circular motion before rinsing off with lukewarm water, to leave smooth, refreshed skin.

5. Pumpkin Pedicure
  • 1/2 cup of mashed pumpkin
  • One egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon honey

Blend all the ingredients, before applying to your feet and calves. Wrap your feet in plastic bags before relaxing for 15 minutes before rinsing off, leaving super soft, well cared for feet.

As you can see these skin DIY's are so simple, you really don't need to waste any leftover Pumpkin this year! We would love to hear how you got on with any of these recipes or see any photographs.
