You may be ready for party season but your skin is probably dreading it! All the late nights, alcohol and extra sparkle in your makeup bag can cause your skin to feel and look a little lacklustre, so heres some tips to keep you sparkling from within this Christmas time.
1. Hydrate yourself and your skin
Cold, harsh winter weather + alcohol = seriously dry and dehydrated skin.
Alcohol dehydrates your skin leaving you with a very unfestive grey tinge so try to drink a glass of water between every cocktail to keep yourself hydrated.
You can also give your skin extra hydration by using a hylauronic acid serum and a moisturiser. Hyaluronic acid is a hydration hero that attracts and binds to the skin up to 1000 times its weight in water.
A brighter, glowing complexion makes the best base for makeup so be sure to exfoliate to get rid of any dead skin. This also means your skincare products can reach the skins surface and work! Glycolic Acid is a great option as it also hydrates the skin and helps keep your pores clean and clear, great if you've been applying extra makeup at this time of year.
3. Get rid of last minute spots
Spots always seem to show up at the worst possible time - so it's most likely before your Christmas parties. Opt for a natural spot treatment such as tea tree oil or look for a product which contains Sulfur or Benzoyl Peroxide.
4. Get enough sleep
Sleep is when your skin gets chance to heal itself, so it's important to get seven to eight hours sleep a night. So between all the festive parties and fun, make sure you give yourself and your skin enough time to rest.
5. Remove your makeup before bed
While upping your makeup game for your back-to-back holiday soirees won’t necessarily cause breakouts, forgetting to remove it before you head to sleep can clog your pores and make your skin a breeding ground for bacteria. No matter how tired you are, it's an essential part of your evening routine.
