Calm your rosacea flare-ups

Calm your rosacea flare-ups - Dermaworks

In case you were not aware, April is Rosacea awareness month, so we wanted to touch on and offer some products to help anyone who is struggling with this skin condition. Those suffering from Rosacea may find they have dehydrated, sore skin, unexplained flair ups and find it difficult to find skin care which works.

What is Rosacea?

Rosacea is a chronic, inflammatory skin condition which usually occurs on the face and can affect all skin types. It may also manifest itself as persistent redness and even appear similarly to acne; however, the two shouldn't be confused.

What is the cause?

It is not entirely known what causes rosacea, although specific triggers contribute to making it appear worse such as alcohol, tea or coffee and spicy foods. In some cases, the individual can be sensitive to the sun and find that going from a hot to cold temperature can cause flair ups.

What skincare should you use?

Vitamin C serum

A vitamin C serum will be useful for rosacea skin, as it helps control the inflammation of the skin. It also helps ward off free radicals that are in the environment that penetrate through our already compromised skin barrier.

Retinol serum

Retinol serum is also useful in looking after rosacea skin as it works alongside vitamin c, helping to reduce the inflammations, which may ultimately reduce redness.

Hyaluronic Acid serum

Hyaluronic Acid is excellent for rosacea due to the amount of hydration it provides to your skin. It's able to lock in the moisture, that your skin desperately needs. It can help to rejuvenate skin in no time and get rid of that rough feeling; you may experience with rosacea.

You must opt for gentle, fragrance-free products that don't use any harsh ingredients when suffering from a skincare condition.
